{"id":5846,"date":"2014-12-17T11:41:37","date_gmt":"2014-12-17T16:41:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.planetsusan.org\/?p=5846"},"modified":"2014-12-17T11:42:29","modified_gmt":"2014-12-17T16:42:29","slug":"cuba-si-embargo-no","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.planetsusan.org\/?p=5846","title":{"rendered":"Cuba Si; Embargo No"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The headline from this midmorning version of the NY Times:<\/p>\n<p>U.S. AND CUBA, LONG ESTRANGED, WILL ESTABLISH FULL RELATIONS<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a sentence or two from <strong>Matryoshka<\/strong>, my fiction about Cuba and virtual reality:<\/p>\n<p>C<em>ecilia muttered under her breath as she continued to search the web, \u201cisn\u2019t it about time to lift the embargo to Cuba, U.S. government? After all, it\u2019s been fifty four years, and it certainly did not succeed in getting rid of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetsusan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/fidel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.planetsusan.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/fidel.jpg\" alt=\"fidel\" width=\"100\" height=\"121\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5847\" \/><\/a>Fidel.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\nI think it, and it happens.  If only I could apply that to the stock market or the track: I&#8217;d be a very wealthy woman.<\/p>\n<p>But I also recall saying in one of these blog posts that I&#8217;d hoped Obama would use his last couple of years&#8217; worth of &#8216;what the hell&#8217; to remove the embargo.
